Anime is Too Pretty to Handle!

Okay, maybe "too pretty" isn’t the right phrase… but seriously, what is going on? Blue Box is stunning. Every frame looks like it belongs in an art book. I just want to live inside this anime. When does my own Blue Box isekai start?

For those unfamiliar with Blue Box, it's an anime produced by Studio WIT and is based on the manga by Kouji Miura.  Studio WIT already makes the most beautiful anime, and this one is just breathtaking. It's about Taiki Inomata, a rising badminton star who is smitten with Chinatsu Kano, a senpai who plays basketball at his school and is aspiring to go to nationals with her team.  Unfortunately, her family is moving to the U.S. at a pivotal moment in her high school career.  But, good news to her, she gets to stay at Taiki's house so she can finish out the year.  Unbeknownst to them both, Taiki's childhood friend and celebrated rhythmic gymnast at their school, Hina Chono, has fallen in love with Taiki!  Now Taiki's not sure what to do.

If that sounds like a classic set-up, I'm with you.  Yeah.  It sounds pretty standard.  But this anime is a gem. It takes what should be a tired, worn out trope and turns it into something delightful, modern, and refreshing.  Definitely worth a watch.

Now that I’m caught up, I’m in that weird space where I’m both satisfied and suffering because I have to wait for new episodes. Thankfully, I’ve got a few other series to fill the void, and somehow, they’re all ridiculously pretty. And then there’s the Bount arc of Bleach… which is certainly a choice.
