General Questions about Game Over
-
Who is the writer or artist?
Jade. (That’s me - the person writing this.) I’m the writer, illustrator, letterer… everything for Game Over.
I do not use AI to generate any portion of the art or content for Game Over.
-
So you don't use any AI to make Game Over?
That’s correct.
I make it all. Me, myself, and I.
I have no interest in using AI to create the art in Game Over or other products. I do not use it for the story, dialogue, layouts, backgrounds, character art, coloring, etc.
-
What is the recommended age range for Game Over?
Game Over is for young adults and up!
There’s no profanity, but there are gratuitous illustrations of men and women as well as boob jokes.
-
Where can I find Game Over?
Currently, Game Over is available on Amazon and Amazon Kindle.
-
Can I read Game Over for free online?
At this time, there is no free content for Game Over available aside from information on this site. If you are interested in bonus content and early access, check out the Adventurer’s Guild Patreon!
-
Why can't I read it for free online?
Back when I started publishing Game Over, it wasn’t feasible to put a high quality webcomic online for free. It required a lot of programming and website support. Therefore, I started selling them in person at conventions. I feel like it would be unethical for me to make available for free what others had already paid for (and continue paying for).
For Current Adventurers
-
What's your release schedule?
My goal is to release at least one book per year, but while finishing my degree at the University of Florida, my release schedule has been a bit more flexible. Until May 2026, new drops may be sporadic, with a typical release of one book every 2–3 years. There’s still plenty left to unfold!

-
When does the next anthology come out?
Each anthology contains 1 - 5 books. Game Over will have about 15 single releases and 3 anthologies. Once Level 10 is published, the second anthology will be released. We’re just a couple of books away!
-
Are your characters based on actual people?
Nope!
As an artist and writer, I do take inspiration from life experiences, but there is no one-for-one correlation between any character and any actual or fictitious person.
-
What games do you like?
Lately, I’ve really enjoyed watching people speedrun games. It’s fun to see the classics done in a different, self-competitive way. I think my favorite classic game is Metroid. I also enjoy playing classic anime games on the Sega Saturn and Genesis. I love Final Fantasy games and RPGs! For about a decade, I raided as a Black Mage in FFXIV. I still haven’t beaten Final Fantasy Tactics because of what I call Red Chocobo Trauma, and I’ve also enjoyed streaming games like Doki Doki Literature Club when it first dropped. Tower defense games like Gem Craft and simulation games like CIV are also fun!
-
How did you come up with the story?
Before the isekai (transported to another world) genre became prevalent, I was writing the story that would eventually become Game Over back in 2004. The original story was about a guy who loved anime, but had a rotten attitude. As a result of his warped views, he couldn’t keep a job, had no friends, and was always miserable. One day, he finds himself homeless and without enough money to pay for a meal. A strange person in a dark hood approaches him and offers him free ramen. But, when he consumes it, he wakes up inside his favorite anime. Trapped.
The pages are in a box somewhere. Yes. I actually drew some of this… If I find them, I’ll share them for free!
-
What's your favorite book thus far?
Tough question!
My favorite pages are in (I think) Level 4. Without spoiling it, they’re a series of pages without any dialogue or text. It took a lot out of me to draw those pages and I found it to be the most emotionally and artistically taxing portion of the book that I’ve drawn to date.
My favorite arc… is probably yet to come. There’s some really cool stuff in the coming books. However, even though the Critter Companion arc challenged me technically as an artist, I think I loved that arc the most thus far. One of my favorite memories was drawing it on Twitch and everyone was sharing animals for me to draw when I was in the home stretch. There’s a fun page near the end of the arc with lots of critters. I drew every animal chat asked for. The ending of that arc just feels like a big, warm hug to me. I also got to draw Dante, my cat who passed away, and Pudurin (one of the Pudus at the zoo) being total badasses. Just a real good time. Wish I had more time to spend on it.
-
Who is your favorite character?
That’s a tough question! I’m not sure I have a favorite. I like each of the characters for what they bring to the table as an ensemble cast. Remove just one of them and the story no longer works. Although, I wish I could just draw an entire series about CoCo cuddling with animals.
-
Are you going to drop more side stories?
I’d love to!
Game Over focuses on one primary story line and, to make it manageable for me to publish, I try not to stray from the main plot. But there’s a lot of breadth and depth to each character that’s fun to explore.
Fortunately, we’ll get some more of the plot-essential backstory in the coming arcs.
-
Are you going to release it as an anime?
I’d love to do that!
But it takes a huge team of people to make that happen. If you know someone in the anime or animation industry who’s interested, let me know!
It would also work well as a video game.
Ethics, Sustainability, & Responsibility
-
Where are your books made?
I draw most of the art in my home studio in Florida.
Currently, I print through Create Space which is now owned by Amazon Publishing (Kindle Direct). According to the shipping label and manufacturing information I receive with each shipment to my home studio, these books are printed in a few different states in the U.S., including Kentucky, North Carolina, and Texas. The bulk have come from a print shop in North Carolina since ~2014.
-
What are you doing to help the environment?
Sustainability is extremely important to me. I love animals and want to make sure they have safe, beautiful homes for thousands of years to come.
In 2018, I transitioned to printing my prints through Cat Print. This reduced paper and plastic waste in my home studio. By leveraging their services and sustainability goals, we can work together to reduce pollution.
As a digital artist, I’m also not using countless sketchbooks, pencils, paints, or markers on a weekly basis. This saves hundreds of pages per book.
My books are also available on Kindle and other e-readers.
Additionally, all of my school work, notes, planning for Game Over (and other works), and analog writing is now done on Rocketbook notebooks and index cards. Rocketbook products can be cleaned with water and reused, saving thousands of pieces of paper per year in my home. For reference, one semester at school required anywhere from 6 to 10 500-page notebooks. Three Rocketbooks and 4 packs of Rocket Book index cards have now brought that consumption rate to zero.
-
How do you identify? What are your pronouns?
I don’t fit into any box. I’m just me.
My preferred pronouns are she/her. You can refer to my brands as “they, it, them”. I refer to the brands as “we/us” as well as “I”, depending on the appropriate tone of voice.
The otter in my logo has no “gender” or “identity”. You’re welcome to refer to it as “it, he, she, they” but please don’t lewd it or sexualize it. Animals are pure creatures. We don’t lewd the animals. Thank you!
-
What are you doing to promote inclusivity?
I want the spaces I’m part of to feel welcoming for everyone. That’s why I try to lead by example—treating people with respect, being open to different perspectives, and encouraging a positive vibe. Inclusivity isn’t about rules; it’s about showing that it’s totally normal and beneficial to everyone to make space for all people.
-
What do you do with my data?
I protect it! Like you, I don’t like when my information is sold or shared with other companies that sell it. I do what I can to make sure that doesn’t happen, which includes working with an attorney to make sure our bases are covered. I encourage you to check out my privacy policy. I think you’ll find acceptable. And, if you have concerns, tell me!
Appearance & Streaming Questions
-
When will you be streaming on Twitch again?
Life’s a little crazy right now, and I’ve had to take a step back from Twitch to focus on my mental health and work-life balance while I finish my degree. -
Are you coming to any conventions?
Thank you for all of your love and support at conventions over the past nearly 20 years. Due to health circumstances, I will no longer be regularly exhibiting at conventions.
The best way to stay up-to-date with my convention schedule and appearances is to follow me on social media!
-
Will you be at any local Jacksonville events?
Whenever I confirm events, I post the information on my social media pages, send an announcement via newsletter, and will add the appearance calendar to my website. Please follow and subscribe to my newsletter to stay in-the-know.
