Jade
Writer & Illustrator

Jade is the owner of Otter Mage Designs, formerly Bento Studios. She has owned and operated her small art business since 2008 and has exhibited at some of the largest conventions in the country including MomoCon, Anime Matsuri, Tampa Bay Comic Con, A-Kon, and Megacon.

Jade and her cat, Taiga, currently live in Jacksonville, Florida. She draws inspiration from her travels and her love for animals and culture. She finds unique inspiration when she visits the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens, The Cummer, and Universal Studios Orlando Resort.

Since 2009, Jade has been writing and illustrating Game Over, her original manga series. In 2012, Jade debuted Game Over at Megacon and has continued releasing new issues on a bi-yearly basis. There are currently six issues of Game Over available and a seventh on the way this summer.

Jade has been a guest at many conventions and events throughout the Southern U.S. including the Daytona Beach Comic Con and North Florida Comic Con as well as a featured indie manga artist at Colosseum of Comics in Orlando, Florida and the Jacksonville Public Library’s Free Comic Book Day events. She was also a member of the Island Art Association on Amelia Island and placed in several of their Art Nouveau shows for her Avant Guard style depictions of bugs and animals.

Because she has become so familiar with the self-publishing world and selling her art at conventions, Jade is frequently a featured panelist at conventions like MomoCon, Tampa Bay Comic Con, and Anime Matsuri where she distills her knowledge and passion for self-publishing and selling art in the artist alley. Her panels are always well attended and, at Tampa Bay Comic Con, there was standing room only in a room that accommodated 200 attendees.

In 2015, Jade became affiliated on Twitch, where she streamed art and occasional games like Final Fantasy XIV, Final Fantasy Tactics, Doki Doki Literature Club, and Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni.

Because COVID shut down conventions for two years, Jade took that opportunity to further develop her ideas for two new works. Jade also used that time to complete her Associates in Arts with a focus on Business Administration and to begin rebranding her business to Otter Mage Designs.

Jade is excited to be starting on a new trajectory post-COVID by partnering with local businesses to display and sell her work. In January 2022, Jade was accepted into the juried Riverside Arts Market, bringing a fresh genre of art to Riverside, Jacksonville. Jade was admitted to the University of Florida in 2022, and has put several projects on hold to finish her degree. While she finishes her degree, Jade has continued working on her books, character design, and light novels with great anticipation to returning to more regular production following completion of her degree.

Print Specifications

All prints are currently hand drawn on an XP Pen Pro drawing monitor at 1200 dpi on an 11x17” canvas and printed through Cat Print on glossy and matte 120 lb card stock. Frames are purchased through Amazon.

The recommended consignment sale price is $20 per unframed print and $40 per framed print.

Convention sale prices start at $15 per print. No framed prints are sold at conventions.

Brand New Designs!

Jade is heavily inspired by travel, animals, and culture. She loves learning more about her world and finding unique ways to share it through her art. Below are some of Jade’s latest designs, created in 2022, featuring a kelpie of Scottish lore, a Shiba Inu in a kimono, and a Pumpkin Spice Latte with some Halloween flare on the glass mug.

Each of these designs will be a double sided charm and are currently available on Red Bubble on countless products.
